ADVERTISING DESIGN & COMMERCIAL ART

The rapidly changing field of advertising and commercial art requires a person who possesses a wide range of artistic and creative skills. Today’s commercial artist must be familiar with many forms of production and illustrative techniques; computer graphics and video production; photography and printing. From simple line drawings to computer-generated imaging, the ADC students create production pieces that require them to apply classroom theory to an advertising agency workplace. These production pieces include the school’s yearbook, logo design, and video production. While entry-level employment is plentiful, students are encouraged to enhance and develop their skills by pursuing post-high school education. The ADC course presents many opportunities for self-employment in such areas as design, illustration, and multi-media production.

Recommended Scope and Sequence This link will connect you to the scope and sequence which lists the recommended high school and postsecondary courses for students in this program of study. This information will be valuable when scheduling courses or investigating postsecondary options. It is recommended that students take the highest level academics possible in order to take full advantage of their program. These rigorous academics will provide a seamless transition into postsecondary education without remediation and provide a student with the general knowledge necessary for the industry.
