I have lived in four foreign countries: Poland for one year, Russia for one year, Japan for two and a half years, and Korea for three years. I have also visited five other countries: Germany, Mexico, Iceland, the Netherlands, and Thailand. Date of hire I have been teaching in the Reading School District since August 2002. However, I have been teaching on and off since January of 1986. I was a long-term substitute for one year at Reading High School and am currently teaching Social Studies at the Reading-Muhlenberg Career and Technology Center. Date of hire: Fall 2006 Advanced Education Bachelor’s degree Community Service I am a former member of Circle K (the college division of Kiwanis), which entitled me to many hours of community service. I helped out with numerous on-campus activities as well as many hours spent off campus at different events. I enjoy spending time with my family, learning new things regarding history, and watching baseball. I have a son, who I love to spend time with. Michael Morrissey Courses taught American History Standard, World Studies Standard, World Studies Accelerated Biography I graduated from Wyomissing High School in 1980. I have a bachelor’s degree from Ithaca College in 1986 and received my Teacher Certification from Albright College in 1988. Mr. Tracey Semmel Courses taught American History Standard, World Studies Standard, World Studies Accelerated Biography I am a graduate of Hamburg High School and Bloomsburg University with a bachelor’s degree in history. I taught 8th grade history in Rocky Mount, North Carolina for three years and I have been with the Reading School District for several years. I am married and I have a son. Date of hire Fall 2001 but I have been teaching for eight and a half years. Advanced Education Bachelor’s degree with 24 post graduate credits. Community Service I am a former member of Alpha Phi Omega which entailed many hours of community service with organizations such as Meals on Wheels, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, and Special Olympics. I am also preparing to participate in the Relay For Life event. Interests I enjoy spending time with my family, reading books about history, watching football and baseball, and movies. I live in Reading and I have two cats. Mr. Bruce Kauffman Courses taught American History Biography I am married with one son. As the son of a masonry contractor, I learned a trade before I graduated from high school. I left college early and pursued a career in the military after which I was involved in private business ventures. Date of hire: Winter 2006 Education Associate degree of engineering technology, Penn State University Bachelor of arts in global studies, Penn State University Pursuing master of arts in secondary education, Albright College Community Service When possible, I shuttle disabled veterans to medical appointments. I am keenly involved with land conservation and I spend summers volunteering with Aaron's Acres, a camp for children with mental and physical disabilities.
