The Reading Muhlenberg Career & Technology Center has immediate vacancies for the following positions:

Carpentry Teacher

Required Qualifications:
Specific:

    • Documentable employment experience reading blueprints, adhering to building codes, knowledge of lumber and materials, a strong working knowledge of math, understanding of construction methodology such as rough framing, roof framing, floor framing and installation, door and window framing, exterior and interior finishing, and rigging.   

General:

    • Willingness and ability to obtain an initial emergency-level certificate and complete all necessary steps toward obtaining permanent teacher’s certification through the PA Department of Education 
    • A desire to work with and motivate high school students 
    • A desire to develop relationships and partnerships with business and industry 
    • Management and oversight of classroom materials, equipment, and facility 
    • Knowledge of computers and software applications 
    • Strong communication, organization and interpersonal skills  
    • Eligible to obtain PDE-related Act 34, Act 151, and FBI clearances 
    • Must pass a physical and drug test

Preferred Qualifications (Not Required):

    • Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in related field of study  
    • Ability to communicate in English and Spanish 
    • Supervisory experience

Administrative Assistant to Student Services

To provide secretarial and support service to personnel located within the Student Services Office for the purpose of encouraging student achievement.

Licenses/Certifications: Microsoft Office Specialist Certification in Core areas preferred.

Specific Qualifications:

    • Possess High School Diploma or GED
    • Minimum of three (3) years of secretarial experience or an Associate’s Degree in an Administrative Assistant program
    • Accurate record keeping and organizational skills
    • Keyboarding at 60+ WPM required
    • Windows file management skills required
    • Microsoft Office software skills required
    • Good interpersonal skills
    • Excellent verbal/written communications
    • Ability to multi task essential
    • Bilingual language skills (English/Spanish) desired, but not required

    • Must pass a physical and drug screen test

Maintenance Mechanic

The Maintenance Mechanic will maintain the school’s mechanical infrastructure to ensure a clean, safe, secure, orderly, and healthy school environment.

Specific Requirements:

      • Possess a High School Diploma or GED
      • Minimum 25 years of age
      • Advanced and in-depth working knowledge of the following:
        • Electrical
        • Plumbing
        • HVAC systems
        • Programmable logic controls
        • Computerized mechanical devices
      • Work independently and with others
      • Stable work history
      • Good communication and interpersonal skills required

General Requirements:

      • Eligibility to obtain PDE-related Act 34, Act 151, and FBI clearances
      • Pass a physical and drug screen test
      • Candidates are encouraged to submit a cover letter and professional resume

Custodian

The successful candidate will support the efforts of the Supervisor of Buildings & Grounds by maintaining a safe and clean building and grounds for the staff, students, stakeholders of the school, and the public.  

Specific Requirements:

    • Possess High School Diploma or GED. 
    • 21 years of age. 
    • Demonstrate the knowledge and skills to operate industrial-rated cleaning equipment required. 
    • Stable Work History 
    • Have the ability to work independently

General Requirements:

    • Eligibility to obtain PDE-related Act 34, Act 151, and FBI clearances
    • Must pass a physical and drug screen test

Substitute Teachers

Specific Requirements:

      • Substitute teachers required for all 31 program areas supported by the Center. Ideal candidates may be certified secondary education teachers, retired CTE teachers and classroom aides, and individuals with extensive work experience who can demonstrate the capacity to support student skill attainment within the Center’s programs (see www.rmctc.org for program listing).
